What the types of Compressors?

In the Chinese Compressor market, according to the Chinese national standard Compressor Classification (GB/T 4976-2017), compressors can be divided into two categories: Positive Displacement compressors and dynamic compressors.

Positive displacement compressors draw in and capture a volume of ambient air in a chamber. They then reduce the volume in the chamber to compress the air casing the pressure and the temperature rising .

The positive displacement compressors break down into two main categories:  Rotary and Reciprocating.

Rotary compressors use one or more rotating elements in a mainframe (called an air end) to decrease the volume and increase the pressure.

Reciprocating compressors use a piston in chamber called a cylinder to decrease the volume and increase the pressure.

They are commonly referred to as “piston compressors.”

We can see the types of compressors as below

types of compressors

1.Reciprocating Compressors

Piston compressors are shaft-driven compressors in which the gas is compressed by the reciprocating motion of a piston in a cylinder.

Diaphragm compressors are shaft-driven compressors in which the diaphragm is mechanically or hydraulically actuated to complete the compression cycle.

2.Rotatory compressors

(1) Scroll compressor

A rotary compressor that consists of a moving scroll disk and a static scroll disk, and is characterized by the flat movement of the moving scroll disk engaging with the static scroll disk to achieve gas compression.

(2) Liquid ring

Liquid ring compressor through the work wheel rotation, under the action of centrifugal force to throw out the liquid, the formation of a close to the inner wall of the cylinder liquid ring, in the two neighboring blades and the liquid ring between the formation of a periodic expansion and contraction of the fan space, thus completing the gas compression of the rotary compressor.

(3) Sliding Vane

Sliding Vane compressor in the eccentric configuration of the rotor is equipped with radial reciprocating slide, slide close to the cylinder wall and rotate with the rotor to form the base element of the periodic changes in volume to achieve gas compression of the rotary compressor.

(4) Screw

Screw rotor through the worm and the star wheel of the meshing movement to realize the pressure of the gas rotary pressure.

(5)Triangular rotor compressor

A compressor that relies on a triangular rotating piston to move in a nearly elliptical cylinder, thus realizing gas compression.

3.Dynamic Compressor

By increasing the speed of gas movement, the kinetic energy is converted into pressure energy to increase the pressure of the gas compressor.

1) Turbo compressor A power compressor with rotary blades, disks, or impellers.

(1)Axial Compressor A turbo compressor in which the gas flows in the axial direction on the cylindrical surface of the compressor stage in an approximate manner.

(2) Centrifugal compressor A turbo compressor in which the gas flows in a radial direction within the impeller impeller.

(3) Ejector a powered compressor without moving elements. The use of high-speed gas or steam jet

Jets of high-speed gas or steam to take away the inhaled gas, and then by converting the kinetic energy of the gas mixture to increase the pressure of the gas.

We  also categorize air compressors according to their use.

Classification

Descriptions

Air Compressor

  The compression medium is air.

Process Compressor

Compression media are gases other than air.

Refrigeration Compressor

The compression medium is a refrigerant (refrigerant), which is used in refrigeration systems.

Gas Transport Compressor

Gas pressure feeding equipment for gas transportation and compression

And according to the compression stages, we can also classify the compressor into singe stage and two stages as well as the multi-stages compressors. Besides that when talking about the the lubricants, there

are oil-free and oil-injected for the chamber compression to low down the temperatures. When the technicians design the solution for the cooling systems, there are twpo types for cooling- air cooling and water

cooling. When come the woking site, we usuall have different kinds compressor, fixed type and mobile, the former one which means the compressor is installed in one place cannot been moved.
