Air compressor temperature control valve function and common faults

The temperature control valve of the screw air compressor is composed of: the temperature control valve is composed of a valve body, a valve core, a temperature sensing element, a spring, and so on.

The working principle of the temperature control valve: According to the principle of thermal expansion and contraction, the temperature control valve core adjusts the oil passage formed between the valve body and the housing by extending and contracting, thereby controlling the proportion of lubricating oil entering the oil cooler. This ensures that the temperature of the screw rotor is within the set interval.

 

Temperature control valve function:

When the oil temperature measured by the temperature sensor of the temperature control valve is lower than the action value (the action value of the temperature sensor is generally 70-85 degrees), the lubricating oil directly returns to the main engine from the oil cylinder. When the oil temperature measured by the temperature control valve temperature sensor is higher than the action value, the temperature control valve temperature sensor is driven by the casing. In this way, push open the valve core, open the bypass valve of your own equipment, so that the lubricating oil enters the cooler for cooling (if the temperature measured by the temperature sensor is higher, the bypass valve opens more), and the cooled lubricating oil returns to the host. Used to control the exhaust temperature of the head of the air compressor during operation.

 

 

Common faults of temperature control valve:

(1) When the exhaust temperature of the screw air compressor head is too low for a long time (such as cold start/severe cold environment), moisture will precipitate in the oil and gas barrel of the air compressor, causing the lubricating oil to emulsify and damage the machine. The air compressor needs to be preheated when it is turned on. Generally, it is turned off for about 3 minutes after starting, and it is restarted for about 2-3 at an interval.

(2) The lubricating oil entering the temperature control valve is not filtered, and the internal passage of the temperature control valve is more complicated, which is easy to cause dirt accumulation. Long-term use will cause a higher failure rate of the temperature control valve.

(3) If the temperature control valve completely opens the passage to the oil cooler, the passage of hot oil directly into the machine head cannot be completely cut off, and the temperature of the lubricating oil entering the machine head is always higher than the outlet temperature of the oil cooler (the difference is 10°C). Left and right are normal), the cooling effect will be reduced.
